Large subdivision proposal to go before P&Z

A conceptual subdivision was due to be proposed to the Planning and Zoning Commission the Village of Wimberley last Monday night. It is the property consisting of approximately 145 acres surrounding the Aqua Texas holding pond. Plans call for the building of approximately 450 homes, some 200 of them multi-family.

This property is next to the sewage pond near Jacobs Well Road and SH 2325 across from Woodcreek North. The proposed name for this subdivision is Wimberley Estates. The subdivider is Texas Landco in Schertz, Texas and the plans are by Reeve & Associates, Inc. of Ogden, Utah.

The company requesting a hearing before the P&Z commission canceled its appearance at the Monday, September 19 meeting, but it is expected that there will be a presentation made at a later meeting, perhaps on September 26.

It would be most helpful if residents of Woodcreek North would make every effort to attend the meeting at which Texas Landco will make its presentation. Watch this website for an announcement of a definite date.

Sumter announces for HC judge

Long time Wimberley resident Elizabeth Sumter has thrown her hat into the ring for Hays County Judge citing her belief that the old ways just won’t work anymore and that the demands of the 21st century call for an innovative leader who is ready to meet challenges head-on.

Sumter believes Hays County government needs to be responsive and accountable to all citizens, not just a few special interest groups. “It is about your county government working in the best interests of all citizens, not just a select few,” said Sumter.

Sumter is committed to being a full time judge and promises to lead a commissioners’ court that will work in harmony for the good of all Hays County citizens and will not cater to special interest groups.

Sumter’s campaign has already begun the largest door-to-door County Judge Petition Drive this county has ever seen. She is inviting grassroots support for the People’s Campaign.

Sumter pledges when she is elected, the petition – with all these signatures – will hang in the County Judge’s office as a reminder to all that she works for the people of Hays County.

Sumter welcomes your support, energy and vote. Go to www.lizsumter.com to find out how you can be part of the People’s Campaign.
